A couple of weeks ago a volunteer with the Corangamite EstuaryWatch program got quite the surprise when she came across the great, great, great, great……… grandparent of modern day whales. Right here on the surfcoast of Victoria!
A team of paleontologists lead by Dr Erich Fitzgerald from Museums Victoria were exploring prehistoric whale fossils between 12 and 28 million years old!
You can find out lots more about this amazing work on July 26th 2017 when Dr Erich Fitzgerald speaks at the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority‘s upcoming Coastal Research & Development Forum.
